Hello hahaha yea I wonder who read this!! anw let's meet up before school start! (hm only applies to those in Singapore I guess..)

Anw.. In early June I had guitar concert with this guitar ensemble from Germany (many cute guys!!! haha). The guy on the most left is super cute (heh but the pic not v clear..). Was bringing the German group around Singapore also, went to Esplanade, little india, chinatown, sentosa..

After the concert I went home for about a month, went to Bali with my family..

We went for a day cruise to this small island near Bali.. I think the cruise was super fun, we can go snorkeling, play water activities, etc..

The very nice hotel that we went to (just to have a look haha). My dad likes to do this when we go Bali, just go to nice hotels and look around.. The hotel is perched high on top a cliff, and there's a small lift to bring you down to the beach, which is very far below..

Yeps.. apart from that, didn't do anything much at home.. just watched TV haha.. I'm back in Singapore now though, have some guitar stuff to take care of.. so yeps. let's meet up k!

so anw. I guess everyone is stressed out now, myself included. Havent been studying much.. I'm too involved with CCA stuff this sem I think.. and now the sem is ending even have more stuff to do because we need to publicize the Guitar Ensemble concert before school ends. so yea. haiz.

how was cny? i'm fatter.. as usual.. after all the eating
BUT i had soccer training 2-430 yesterday and then today badminton 3 hours later, saturday probably playing soccer again, and then monday badminton semis so hopefully lose all the fat again. HAHA.

My first week of the sem was quite busy.. coz i'm organising this Catholic Awareness Week in NUS which is on first week of Feb (but at least it'll be over soon).. And I'm also involved in finding sponsorships for guitar concert and another event..
Oh and I'm taking 6 modules this sem (the norm is 5 in NUS).. 3 of them are level 2 life sciences modules (which I'm not supposed to take until year 2, but I did all of my level 1 modules alr, so taking the level 2 now), then doing French 2, Principles of Chemistry (which has a lot of quantum physics, i'm gonna die), and Mathematics of Games (I'm gonna be able to count card like the movie 21! haha)

so yups. anyways.. guess most of you guys are going home for cny.. so maybe can meet up after that =)

heh that's all of my boring entry.. will update if i have more exciting things haha..

hellos. i'm back in singapore.so i have fast internet connection and can post pictures. haha.

so i met winnie the pooh in hong kong disneyland. I think the pooh is too skinny. oh and when we were queing to take picture there's this kid who actually asked for pooh's signature. i wonder what it's like. haha.

oh and i met brad pitt too, hehe.

ocean park. it's like theme park combined with mini sea world and mini zoo. love the location, it's right beside the sea so it's quite pretty.

in front of cathedral of st paul in macau. yups we went to macau, it's like only 1hr ferry ride away from hongkong.

and went to see the casino too. this is the ventian macau, the one that's recently opened. they built this inside the hotel with the canal, gondola and a singing guy who rows the gondola. haha.

hong kong CBD. a bit like singapore i guess, only that hong kong is so much larger.

so yups. oh and i went to jakarta too at the end of the holiday, stayed at demmi's and kristy's place. can see my retarded pics on facebook. wanted to meet cil but he's having exam in bandung. haiz. okays happy schooling everyone!

ANYWAY..i'm back! got back 2 days ago. super tiring.12/13 hours in the plane. paris was pretty! london also.. but both are like mega cities..the ppl there during the boxing day sale.. was like INSANE. seriously.. and all the branded stuff.. crazy.. insaneness.. haha...

so how was all u ppl's holiday? fun? i bought like 3 bags.. HAHA.. 2 from accesorize.. their accesorize a bit cheaperla.. so HAHA.. and like random clothes here and there..

pictures are the louvre (the art museum! very pretty inside but walk thru throngs of ppl just to see the small mini mona lisa), and then notre dame (hunchback!- very very very very pretty inside) and eiffel day and night.. and it moves 10 cm due to the heat.. the top part..scary right.. yoz people! I have officially finished my exams/papers/anything elese that prevents me from having fun! Hahaha! I am now back in Hanoi after shooting myself in the pocket because of the ticket prices! I almost got stranded in 2 airports and expecting that to happen when I return. I will talk about that incident later. I am really bored right now. I still don't know how to ride a motorbike (bleah!!!! Lousy lor) and neither do I know how to drive a car (wah liao!!!!!). I miss singlish to a great extent! So if any of you happen to go online and see me, buzz me so i can spill all my suppressed Singlish out! I want to go out and go shopping and do something fun! Arrrggghhh, I am so bored!!!!
Btw, we should have a group chat session again!

Ok, so here is my almost-nightmarish/almost-fun-story:

I arrived in St. Louis Lambert International airport at 6.30 am (after waking up at like 5.00 am and takind the 5.30 am train) only to find that my flight to Minneapolis (supposed to be scheduled at 8.30am that day) had been cancelled due to the huge snow storm. What happened was that they scheduled me on another flight to minneapolis an hour and five minutes earlier. So I had to fly at 7.25 am, and I had to check in at another counter (which had like a hundred people queuing). So after I checked in, it was like 7.05!!!!! (and I still had to go through the security checkpoint, which contained like 1000 people) And for your information, the gate closes 15 minutes before flight departure!!!!! I was soooooo scared!!! So I ran and ran and made it! Hah! The plane was so small, and I sat at 1A, right behind the pilots (I didn't know the pilot cabin was so small.... and so full of funny things: their hand cream, rubber ball, etc.)

So I arrived in Minneapolis and almost lost my luggage (cause one of my carry-ons was supposed to be taken at the gate, but I didn't know and nobody told me so I thought it was put on the conveyor belt... BLEAH!!! So difficult, so I went two rounds around the airport to get back to the plane gate, having to go through security twice!!! OMG)

Ok, so when I was in Tokyo: I had like 1.30 hours to get to my plane. But the security checkpoint lasted for a very long time (1 hour so be exact)… and when I got out I realised that I need to go to another terminal for the flight (and the bus to the terminal won’t leave until 5.45 pm. It takes 10 minutes to get to the terminal. My flight were to leave at 6.10 pm. I have no boarding passes yet!). So I ran to the Northwest Counter and they got me a bus to take me to the other terminal! Lucky lor, or I would’ve been stranded with my 20-page essay due the next day (I had not written any words yet, even though I had some idea)!!!! Crazy!!!!

anyway.just finished my exam just now.. went out for sashimi! and then came back to pay my hostel fees, pack my stuff clear my room then going out for dinner soon..

my exam today was BAD. first got stomach ache (went toilet twice!)... dunno what i ate also.. then like first question dunno how to do. and then like this person came out of the hall and he was like " die, my calculation wrong'' and i was like "what calculation?" GG already. essay part some more. HAHAHAHA.. whole big huge chunk gone.HAHAHA.. oh well. OVER OVER OVER

so my holiday FINALLY begins.. whileyou all have been slacking for like quite awhile ( except phoebe? going home for hols?) and yeah.. i don't even have time to properly NUA and like slack.. i'm going home tmr and then on thursday i'm flying off to uk until the 30th night i think. then it'sl ike new year already and then 3rd got some party thing and then 4th i come back and 5th i start school and then the whole thing begins again.and 5th starts the interhall games also.. HAHA.. like so tiring right? haha..

ANYWAY.. will update again when i'm back from uk show you guys pictures!!!:) i think i'm going to freeze there seriously..can't even tolerate cold.. hahahah. so u guys update about your holidays!:)

yea i miss hcibs birthday celebrations too =((
actually i miss my jc life hell a lot, maybe cos im not too embracing my uni life hahaha..but come to think of it, the jc life is just too good to not be missed. rewinding the thoughts back to the bridging course period, where i still had a cool monk's hairstyle and was still member of high pants society, that period was just pure awesomeness(quoted from kungfu panda) and fun, hahaha. i could still remember the times when we spent hours sitting on the chairs by the pool and talked nonsense almost every day, getting dumped by nj seniors, the memorable miss. mary (sth) (i forgot oops), the bondage we built through walking to school together in the morning. those days will probably remain as one of the best moment in life (maeyue sorry if you feel left out here =p)
then, there is the ip1 and ip2 period, the period where cil and i are so united we always decide to pon lessons together, hahaha. that is the period where we thought that we know what stress is, but it's actually still quite an alien to us. that is the period of projects. also, the period where i grew thinner while maeyue grew the other way round lol. the guidance and mentorship the seniors(esp marco, martin, johan, yansen) gave had such a huge impact on me (like from doing zero pushups to 50 pushups haha) and i'm sure you all had great experience being in the singapore education system for the first time.
then it was the ip3 and ip4 period, where stress level peaks due to demands of A level exams and cca commitments. we were busy with a lot of things (me particularly in the relationship lol), and were almost occupied everyday. but we still found time to gather at the tables or at the amphi, celebrating birthdays, making fun of each other, calling each other names, playing games, singing songs, mugging, econs essays!!, or simply just feast on the food any of us bought. haha, although we might not remain as a whole ip scholars later, i am glad that each one of them left a precious footstep =)

wenqian, the mysterious and quiet girl i tried my best to talk to during bridging course
xiaodan, the chubby girl who looks excited even when doing simple things like speaking english
judi, the innocent, pure-hearted man turned abeng hahaha
wutian, my ballet tights mate, the smart man turned game freak(civilisation 3 sure did damage to all of us hahaha) and muscular (canoeing power)
van, the guy who looks like a girl (or is it the other way round? =p), who i spent a few seconds staring to decipher whether she was a he/she, revealed her artistic talent and had fetish to pon school on random days
sally, my walking dictionary in ip1, cheerful mate who is probably the most comfortable person to talk to on earth, yet beneath those shaky bones, cute looks and childish face, she is older than me!!, smarter than me!!luckily i can still call myself a man cos i'm still stronger than her haha =p
phoebe, the uh-oh-so-oriental look, the super high pitch when talking, the big mama, who cried in front of us in amphi cos she was thinking of her mama (our grandma =p), yet someone who is smart, bulliable, has her own unique opinion. also, someone with hair long enough to be any horror movie's main actress hahaha.
linh, the guy who likes to imitate fish's mouth, speaks a weird english accent, but deep within, is actually a very friendly guy and someone who knows how to appreciate friend. a math genius, nevertheless.
thang, the gay guy who likes to spank me, my football freak partner, man utd hard core fans partner, turned muscular and even more horny. also, the most hard working ip scholar guy ever!!hahaha..
tina, music pro, cool-headed president of boarders' council, who laughs unglamly, even speaks unglamly sometimes, but someone who is very comfortable to talk to. and a very nice lad.
cil, singing pro who likes to reside in choir's store room, surfing internet and watching free home made shows near the nj crest. my cocky roommate turned slacker, music pro, walking dictionary, very nice lad, and of course the whole package comes with his distinctive look of angelina jolie's lips and a huge ass(last time) all girls dream of.
andre, running freak with super skinny legs who likes thousands (exaggerated version) of chinese(not prc) girls, a good friend to emo with (i wont forget the times when we had heart-to-heart talk behind hall e,f,g), and of course a very nice host (the msian trip in sept 06!!haha)
maeyue, probably the most luan girl, the most bimbo, the most versatile sportswoman, the most effective mugger i've ever met, who is intimidating when she talks sometimes =p, but a very nice lad who is mature, has a very lovable family, brightens up my day every now and then, and is one thousand times fitter than me, but still FAT =p
haha, ok it's 4 am now, should stop typing. very sleepy already. haha may we always remember each other ever. friends till death do us apart!!(wah sounds so scary =p)

haha! some food for ur eyes. i had a pretty random weekend lol =.= i went for supper outside school with some senior, then on the way back the moon looked super damn nice so we decided to go get his dslr to take pictures!!! lol!!! but then by the time we got the camera, dunno where the moon disappeared to. so we walked around school taking pictures! ntu is super pretty at night leh. then like5am-ish, we climbed up to ADM rooftop to take sunrise pictures. hohoho... best part is he taught me how to use dslr and lent me the camera for 2 weeks cuz he got final project report to do.. SHIOK!!! hahaha!! im taking pictures like mad hahaha.

wah feeeling suuuperr lazy to go for classes now. lol. eh yoga i long time never see u leh.

Arghhh..I dont like being sick -.- currently eating my packed food in front of my laptop, hahaha. somehow i havent felt hungry for the past 2 days, thanks to the stupid cold and nonstop coughing..but yeah, must at least eat a bit for the sake of eating lah even though i can hardly taste the food..and i just realised i've been sick 3 times since i came to singapore in july -.- meaning one sickness every month, hiks3..Maeyue faster become doctor, then i can visit you every month, hahaha..
oh, tina and van,are you all free next saturday?lets go nj open day and hang out afterwards, hahaha..
Supposed to catch up with studies today, but just woke up at 2 pm, and still got headache some more, so continued resting till dinner time..hmph, shall try to mug after i finish my food..haha, and i'm bored enough to count that there are 38 painful steps to reach the stupid toilet every time i need to go pit stop..blah, cant even sleep peacefully yesterday..and amazingly i watched heroes season 3 before i slept =.= so the dreams went a bit wild everytime i tried sleeping..hahaha, hopefully i'll be okay by monday lah, cos very uncool to sneeze and cough in front of so many ppl =p

hello ppl.. shall blog since i'm SICK of studying.. at least the arm.. you know my textbook has like almost 170 pages for the UPPER LIMB itself. and this morning from like 1030 until 1230 i only finished like 20 pages? HAHA.. and i still have lower limb for my exam.. die.. having lunch now going to study something else in the afternoon.. like weekends only can study.. haha..

Okay.. UPDATES!

Malaysian Night is this weekend!!! TINA come support! van and yoga if you guys are free come watch ya.. HAHA.

Anyway, Malaysian Night has been taking like loads of my time. Like last night had rehearsal from 10-1am! and yeah by the time i slept was 2 plus.. my timetable sort of was like that the past week or so.. And I'm dancing Indian dance! HAHA. So yeah.. and I can actually sort of follow the dance. And I'm MC-ing. Had to come up with the script all. and as usual do the programme bookletla, tickets, etc. I think I call Mr.Thng until he knows me from NJ until now. And t-shirts as well. So not much time to study and stuff.

And it's starting to get scary.. like from next week.. today we had a briefing.. for us to get ready stuff for next week..cuz for anatomy they dont' have notes? Only like use your textbooks and go to class and see whether you fulfil certain objectives.. in one week I gotta finish all the entire upper limb! ALL the bones and muscles and joints..and I'm like sooo no time this week. Tonight's the only free night I have so far.. used to complete booklet and talk to sis and melvin online.. haha.. At least tmr no class, so Tammy and I are supposedly trying to study..meeting Sheila for lunch.. tina u free tmr lunch 1pm?

Playing badminton for Interfaculty games.. next saturday i think..and YES recess week is coming soon shall find time to meet you all again as a group..and sally? woohoo.. I WANNA BLOG TOO! actually just wanna brag about my Business Law tutor, the one who i complained about for being a slacker and canceling class last week... went for his first class today and woooooooooooo... i tell you, he's like the combination of the Heath Ledger's Joker and Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow... hahaha im not joking, he's like that weird weird type. from the look to the behaviors and stuff, he really reminds me of the Joker first, then Jack Sparrow! and he has a mixed accent, can switch from British to American to Singlish, generally he speaks really good English cuz he used to be a lawyer i think... and i found out he's actually a bit famous for RETIRING AT THE AGE OF 37... now he's only doing part-time jobs and enjoying life, the papers actually wrote about his early retirement... haha and his lesson was really fun... i was laughing a lot... hehehe he has suddenly lifted Business Law from my most disliked subject to most-looked-forward-tutorial now... why isn't he a lecturer?? T_T

anyway im getting SUPER busy with Business stuff... tutorials and lots of group projects... like every week.. and we're having this fake stock trading thing, using fake money and REAL stock prices! so like see who earns the most or something haha... oh wells... i totally have no idea what's going on with the stock market so a bit worried but oh well... its quite fun to spend a fake 100,000k haha...

yep and i've been going to lots of welcome teas for random clubs too...quite tired...but at least keeps me busy! :D:D

Hi Pheebz! send some cheesecake please.. and hi mae yue! see you around science fac! haha.
ok anyway... school is boring so far.. doing lots of stuff that is similar to a level bio and chem.. starting to get to more cheem stuff but the essence is still the same.. lecture today was about structure of protein and another one on gene transfer in bacteria.. and NJ lecture notes are like so much better.. haha.. oh and French is horrible! it's super difficult to pronounce.. I'm to embarrased to say any word coz it sounds horrible...

oh and i've been going for some CCA welcome teas.. joining guitar already! It's so fun!!!! the songs they play are like so much nicer than NJ ones.. having concert on 17 sept (it's free!) so practice is like twice a week.. and i think i'm gonna be volunteering in NUH (the hospital) and thinking of going Myanmar or Cambodia for CIP in Dec (which means that I can't go home, so see how).. and joining the Catholic Student Society also..

oh and another news... I found out what happen to Xiaodan and Wenqian!!! haha.. met Xiaodan on the way back to PGP ytd.. she's doing Industrial Design, staying in PGP.. and Wenqian is doing Food Science and Technology staying in Raffles Hall..

HA. okay.. I have like 20 minutes to update you guys about the past few weeks.. HAHA..

Like hall orientation was tiring, and like loads of admin stuff to finish for NUS. Student pass la, matriculation stuffla and all that stuff. Then, am in block com for my hall and it's interblock games..from last tuesday today last day so have been like playing sports like every night.. SERIOUSLY. And if i get to sleep at 1am it's early already. YEAH, ME! awake at 1 am! Tell me about it. Anyway, good training for my housemanship years. HAHA. And am in Malaysian Night committee for my hall.. all the malaysian freshies are supposed to like organise malaysian night on the 6th of september..so when i'm not playing sports i'm in dance rehearsals, video making, designing posters, etc. At least lessons in school aren't that bad SO FAR.. mostly loads of introduction stuff cuz this year is the first year of the new curriculum. Hours are looong though.. like start at 8/9 and end like at 4/5. SO yeah.. then finish class, come back rush dinner, then games start at like 630pm until late. SO YEAH. haha..

How are you guys? Phoebe! sounds fun though.. you and your leaking fats.. SO GROSS!!!! haha. Gotta go already for dinner..road relay tonight!! 2.2km upslope! running with the twins..jenna and jenny..rmb them from hcibs? and like 3 other guys..and then netball and handball finals..my block won badminton and tennis finals already. oh and i went for badminton tryout for faculty games..will update later! Hello earthilinga!!! I am in my pre-orientation now. Playing with some computer programmes that I have no idea what they are about. Anyways, it's so dry here that my skin had become a tree bark!!!!!!! (Drowns in my own tears... intentional tear secretion to prevent the crackling sound I hear when all my collagen tears apart).... Arrrgghhhhhh.... I miss the tropical sun and the tropical wind and the tropical heat that make my fats leak!!!!! Oh, and everyone here has a Macbook!!!! What's with the MAC????? There are hardly any computer programme for the MAC in VN!!!!!! Bleah bleah bleah!

Yoz people! I bet you meezzzeed me A LOT!!!! Van, don't be bored. Go shopping or somethin? How are you guys doing in school? Having lessons and homework alr? Argh, I heard some singaporeans here say that the workload here is even heavier than that in Singapore!!!!!!!!!! And I have to take compulsory Writing composition I this sem and I heard got this singaporean guy who worked his brains and beauty sleep off just to get an A!!!!! Arrrgghhh!!! DIE!

Anyways, the flight was ok (a lot of turbulance, but I was surprisingly calm.... right Tina??). The Japanese air stewardees were so cute and bubly, so japanese!!! Hahahahaha! The food on Japan airlines was good! Had sushi!

Anyways, I arrived yesterday afternoon and skipped my lunch (had a big breakfast on the plane anyways). And I went with 2 other girls (1 a freshman from china and one a senior here) to Target to get stuff (went to Target today too!!! Spent like 100 US on fundamentally domestic things). And we went back and ordered pizza and guess what! We missed our pizza delivery guy and we had to starve!

There is a construction right outside my dorm and it woke me up super early this morning at 7.30. I slept at 12 yesterday after I finished unpacking! And guess what! The jet lag was so bad that I felt sleepy again at 9. But of course I didn't sleep cause I had to go to the bank to set up an account!!! Ok, and here comes the bank story:

Well, my school has a Bank of America and unfortunately, it was quite small. Before today,, I've heard nightmare stories that people come at 10 and had to wait until 1 to get their banking done! And guess what.... it was TRUE!!!!!! We arrived at 11.15 (I met a singaporean from RJ today too) and were told that we needed to wait, so we went for a tour and grabbed lunch! so at around 2, we got our turn. BUT....!!!!.... I never thought that American banks were SOOOOOOOO confusing!!!!!!!! We ended up having 2 hours of explanation and still weren't able to fully comprehend what the banking entails! So I ended up setting up 3 accounts under my name!!!!

Tokyo Narita airport at 6.30 in the morning. One word description: desolated! The shops were completely closed and there was no one in sight! I was like: "This can't be Tokyo! I got on the wrong plane!"

This is the "Washington university in St. Louis" wall outside the dorm area! It's cool coz the uni is connected to the outside world through roads that lead directly to the main road (unlike a hem .... NUS, NTU, blah blah). They have these "sign walls" ouside every building that faces the road.

halo! i'm not occupied at all i swear... in fact i WISH i was a lil bit more occupied than right now hahaha. cuz i have like no lesson on friday and i wanted to add electives but they don't let business ppl take anymore courses, so yeah, and then this monday my IT instructor decides to call the first lesson off because of national day holiday, and then my businesslaw instructor is apparently some slacker who calls off our wednesday tutorial too... so i'm like super free -_-'' 4 holidays in a row! normally that would have been great, but it's not so great when i've just had a 7-month holiday haha...

anyway.. I played for NJ guit concert ytd!! it's in esplanade recital studio. esplanade backstage is quite cool.. there are a lot of changing rooms.. and security is quite tight, to go in you have to go through this security counter thing.. some pics..

post-trip depression

HA. Tell me about post-trip depression. Like al the crap admin stuff to do which is so stupid. BAH. And confusing..my pr and student pass application like clashes. anyway...

1. MOST fun part of the trip
Er... actually I liked the 2nd day in pattaya. We woke up quite late and it was raining and we were just like sitting there. Then cil and i went to swim and then we walked at the beach and ate random lunch and then the JET SKI!!! and the nice trans show and then walking around the street at night..and the walking street! and then random mcd ice cream and random bus bar. And loads of just talking and slacking. So yeah. FUN.

2. MOST depressing part?
Going to the airport. HA. like the feeling knowing that the holiday is over. BLEAH.

haha ok i'm not that depressed la. maybe a bit. actually got stuff to do but i'm just lazy..

aniwaes... let's all post our best and worst part of the trip!!

best part of trip:
it would be the last part of boat ride in nha trang, where we went to the very very small caves. Sitting down there on the boat and trying hard to avoid being hit by the stuff in the cave was hillarious and thrilling at the same time. plus we can't really see much in the cave, and water is dripping all over us. but once we get out of the cave.... the view was just awesome (definitely more awesome than the panda lol). it's just really peaceful and calm (apart from our own noise haha) and the view of the mountain and the lake was amazing. I felt so tiny in the small boat, surrounded by everything around me. I think none of the pictures/videos i took do justice to the actual scenery, or maybe me or my camera is just lousy. haha.

worst part:
hmm it has got to be the part when I was queing at the immigration in bangkok airport when we were leaving. The queue was soo long, and for the first time in 9 days i realised that i'm queuing for something alone.

day 7
SHOPPING DAY!!! (yup just edited the post..OMG how can i forget the shopping day!!!)
We spent like almost the entire day at Chatuchak market! We had breakfast at the kopitiams near our hotel then took the Subway from Hua Lompong station to Chatuchak Park. Near the entrance of Chatuchak we met some girls from NJ! Ruth, Rhoda and Charlene. Then after Van and Cil changed money (we spent a lot!) the guys and girls split up to shop for their respective stuff.

SHOPPING YIELD!!! ( if i remember correctly!)
Mae Yue - 3 shorts (50B each!), flowy knee-length pants, 6 pairs of earrings, 2 t-shirts, sunglasses, one angel accessory thingy( the head broke VAn!!)
Van - 3 shirts - very cool long shirt which yoga tried!! HAHA, 1 shorts, angel thingy!, 6 pairs of earrings!!!more,more
Phoebe - 4 shorts!, 2 shirts - 1 white one with black belt very cool, 6 pairs of earrings
Tina - 1 weird blue top, flowy knee-length pants, 6 pairs of earrings, 1 shorts, etc,etc

Guys!Cil bought this really really cool UDG army-like bag, and both bought like shirts, and this apparently cute shirt (which the girls didn't think was cute) and like other t-shirts.. haha

So after walking and shopping (the only breaks between was lunch - some chicken noodle thingy and like the 4B ice stick thing), we met up at Kampong Phet station at 5pm plus.. Then went back to the hotel with the subway - played the number game on the station and Cil had to do this strong-man pose in the train! HAHA.

Then we showered, tried on all our clothes, and dressed up! So fun. Tina brought lipstick/gloss so we had fun. The guys wore their shirts. Then we took tuk-tuks to MBK, a shopping mall. Bought movie tickets for 11.15pm movie Wanted. 150B per person because it's digital (which is so much clearer actually). Dinner at some Japanese noodle place. Then we walked around outside of MBK. Van bought a dress for her sister..cute pink dress! AFter that we took emo shots! HAHA.

Wanted! Er..movie was a bit.. HAHA. Had the experience of watching Thai adverts. After the movie (tina slept like in between!), we had to like find our way out of the place and squeeze in a cab back to train inn and during the journey we saw an accident - guy in the middle on the floor face-down! Quite scary. Then spent the whole night talking and i think we slept at like 4plus or 5!!! and so continues with..

day 8
we woke up at like 9 plus? cuz we all slept at like the ungodly hour of almost 5am talking nonsense and arguing about random stuffs.. haha
then we had breakfast/brunch at some coffee stall near our hotel. Yoga and Van finally got to try their pork leg with rice thingy. After that we went to 7-11 AGAIN (the shop has been our constant supply of pocky, water, and lays- oh yeah did i mention that the night before we had a lay's party?) and bought more lays and supplied. Then we went back to the hotel to pack and have another lay's party before we checked-out and went to the airport.

At the airport we took our nice same t-shirt pictures! (the shirts we bought from Chatuchak on our 2nd day at Bangkok) for 10B each. See! Nice!!!

Yoga and Mae Yue had to like run! Because the queue for the passport was long and then the gate was like SO far away. We were like breathless when we reached the gate. HAHA. Quite funny. And then the trip was over!SO SAD! but yup... having loads of fun with compromising pictures of scratching now.. HAHA

addition to day 5:
before the walking street we went to this night market.. bought nice lamps! and bags and souvenirs. then went to another shopping place nearby, mae yue and phoebe bought nice dresses =) and van and tina were sad coz the dresses were too short for them.. haha.. and yoga bought t-shirts i think. we were v hungry so we ate KFC for dinner.

day 6:
packed for bangkok, then i watched ftv (we seem to be watching it all the time) with chill while the rest went for bfast. checked out from hotel and took the minivan to bangkok! arrived at train inn, which was v small (but cute). somehow we got the second class room which means we dun have shower and toilet in the room. room was small, only got beds and tv and washbasin. the place was really clean though...

after that went out to the grand palace by taxi ( 5 ppl squeeze at the back!). when we arrive there was a guy telling us that we can't go in at that time and we could go somewhere else first (and tina started to feel very very uneasy coz this situation is exactly like what she has read in online guide etc. haha). bought some lunch from stalls in the market: funny-tasting sausages, chicken and fruits. took the boat after that.. it's quite interesting to see the houses around the canals, saw a few temples around the area.. but the river was dirty!! oh and they have road signs on the river.. stopped at wat arun, all of us climbed to the top, it was like a 90 degrees climb!!! view from the top was good. and then the most random thing happened. Mae Yue lost her contact lense at the top of Wat Arun!!! so the two chivalrous guys went up again to find it but apparently it's there.. so we left the temple compound, and took picture with that thing in thai costumes (ok i have no idea what it is called or how to describe it). and some guy suddenly came and pointed at the 40B sign!!!!! OMG!!! it's a rip off day. haha. so we paid 160B for the pic.

then the boat took us back to the other side of the chao praya river, and we went to the grand palace. what a grand place indeed! there are so many buildings and gold statues... so we took many many pictures! inculding many pics where we posed like the statues. went in to the temple of emerald buddha (in which the buddha was not made of emerald but jade. ok this is random), sat down inside for a while. there's so much gold it was blinding. oh and had water from the lotus flower on our head. haha. went around the palace some more, went to the weapon museum, and took more pics. unfortunately we couldnt enter some part of the palace coz there's something going on. changed money afterwards coz half a day in bangkok proved to be very very costly.

took the river boat afterwards!! it's quite cool, like taking public bus only that it was a boat!! the boat went along the river, we got to see some hotels and stuff. arrived at the central pier and took the skytrain to siam, the shopping area! went in to siam paragon for while but decided that we could not buy anything there, so went to the siam square area instead. had dinner at this noodle place. noodle was good, but it was very very spicy!! phoebe was the only person who were eating in peace while the rest of us had to battle the spicyness. haha. went around to shop some more at siam square.. the guys looked bored while the girls went into various shops to buy stuff, like Kimono top!!! after that we went outside, found this shoe shop. yoga cil and van was waiting patiently while the rest went in to try shoes! haha. we wanted to go back after that, only to realise that the night market has just started!!! so yoga cil and van had to wait a bit longer while tina mae yue and phoebe shopped some more.

after reaching the hotel, cil slept immediately i think. the rest showered then went for a walk in around the hotel. bought lots of lays, and then found some eating place by the road side, so we sat down and eat! and had lays party in the hotel afterwards. can't believe cil missed all of this eating. haha.

Day 5

haha poor guys had to sleep on the floor while the girls shared the beds. so friggin cold their aircon!!! anyway we woke up in the morning and it was raining!!! so sad... but after a while it let up and we went to the pool! sexy bikinis... took random pool pictures and did random "water sports" eg holding breath underwater (which i won!!) lol... then we changed into our clothes and walked to the beach!! on the way we ate lunch at this thai food shop. ordered tomyum soup, chicken curry (yumm!), some really nice vege dish and pineapple fried rice... then we walked around some more and finally got to the beach. rather disappointing beach though... took lotsa pictures with our narcissistic drawings on the sand hehe.. then the guys went back to the hotel while maeyue tried to negotiate her hair-braids-thingy... hahaha...100 baht for ONE... then tina and van went back to hotel while maeyue and phoebe went jetskiing... looks very fun... and we could hear them screaming all the way from the hotel haha...

in the evening we went to see the TIFFANY'S SHOW!!! better than the one i saw last time... very grand and stuff... some of the "girls" are like damn pretty... we all picked our favourite! after the show we went out and took pictures with the green girl (taking pictures in thailand proves to be very expensive) and yoga took picture with the girl in big white princess dress.. in kinky pose. after that we took the tututu to the walking street!!! it's very interesting and amusing. bars full of skimpily-dressed girls (and guys) and fat angmohs. bartop dancers and all, in sailor or high school uniforms!

after that we went to eat ice cream in McD, and stopped at this roadside cocktail bus thingy to have some drinks! our first round of drinks was very disappointing, super diluted with hardly any alcohol! but that was enough to turn yoga into super lobster mode and maeyue into hyper sleepy mode. after that cil yoga and van did 2 B52 shots each! SUPER AWESOME! but due to financial/health reasons we stopped and again, we took the tututu back to our hotel. cil and i actually watched FTV until like 3am while yoga just kinda curled up on the bed like a doggie and slept soundly.. haha... very fun day in pattaya!

Trip - Thailand 1

hmm I shall write before I forget.

Day 4

So the next day we woke up and pack for Thailand!!! Van cooked brunch (crab soup with veggie, fried something wrapped in leaves which was very nice, beancurd, and long bean. wah I actually remembered). Nice!! after that went to the airport, we were a bit late but there was no queu so it's ok. Bought Vietnam souvenirs, and after that it's time for boarding. =)

Flight was a bit long, we were sleeping most of the time I think. Arrived in Subvanarbhumi early, so instead of taking the bus we hired a minivan to Pattaya. Oh and we bought nice fruit smoothies. Journey to pattaya was only about 1.5 hrs. Arrived at Sabai Lodge, Mae Yue and Van went into hiding (haha) while the rest checked in. The hotel is rather old, but nice and cozy. We got rooms right in front of the swimming pool =)

After check-in we went out to walk along the beach! Beach was nice... then wanted to find dinner but apparently it's quite difficult to find place to eat coz most of the places there are bars. with lots and lots of girls. and 1 or 2 ang mohs surrounded by the girls. haha. Finally we were too hungry and bought barbecued stuff (chicken, pork, heart, squid, rice , etc) from the friendly street vendor.. and it started raining for a while so we stood at the roadside eating. after that found this roadside food place, and we ate authentic Pad Thaiand chicked noodle soup!!! Nice =) =) =)

Then we went to the market, where Van and Tina bought clothes. then went to this factory outlet above the supermarket, and it started raining very very heavily. can't find umbrellas to buy (except the gold colour once for religious procession i think). so we took the songthaew (that's the name, it's not Tuk Tuk nor it is tututu..) and we actually stopped near our lane! then had to run in the rain to reach our hotel and everyone was very very wet..

at night while phoebe and mae yue was sound asleep Cil Yoga Van and Tina had a small party, haha.. ordered (with much difficulty) from the Pizza Place (Chinese) garlic bread (which they dont have anymore =( chicken wings, salad and fries.

Trip - Hanoi

Day 1
Woke up at 3am. Taxi was supposed to come at 4am but it was late! Still reached the LCCT in time after stopping at the main airport by mistake. It was an experience at the airport - so many queues! Like a gazillion.. queue to check-in (where there were like dunno how many lines when there were only 2 counters) and then queue to check out passports, queue for the security check before going into the boarding area, and queue again before we get to the gate. And being low-cost, we had to like walk to the plane itself.. and everyone was like rushing..and then we had seats like at the back of the plane. It was supposed to fly at 6.30am BUT we only flew like at 7plus i think. We all slept like most of the way cuz like of the waking up early.

Then we reached Hanoi! After 3 hours in the plane. And then we had to wait like 30-45 minutes just to get our luggage. We could see Sally and Van through the glass doors. Then like FINALLY after getting our stuff we took Van's dad's car back to her house! The Indonesians and Malaysian found the house so very different from what we have at home. 5 storey houses!! and like very narrow shops/houses as we passed the streets of Hanoi.

Lunch at Van's house! Tasty spring rolls! Cathedral in the centre of town and "So Hot" cafe. Hanoi has many small cafes with great atmosphere. Cil spread his music across the cafes in town. Then we walked the many streets of Hanoi, pass the pretty lake. We ate 'hoa qua dam', fruit mix with ice! Really nice food! We sat in small little stools in the shop and enjoyed the cool drink-like thing. Then, more shopping! Mae Yue and Yoga bought Crumpler bags. No idea how Mae Yue is going to pack her bags. She bought 3. and I'm broke!

After that we went to another cafe called I-Box which was on a road near the lake. Nice place with nice lights. Cil played the piano again. The place was like nice and quiet and like ours. Linh, Sally and Phoebe joined us.

Day 2
Breakfast at Papa Cafe where we had great big bowls of Pho and nice avocado smoothie. The nice lady gave us 1000 dong discount! haha.

Next, we went to the University of Literature. Where we got to pat the heads of turtles... The turtles are actually the head of some stones where the names of scholars are engraved. So supposedly, if we pat the heads of the turtles, you'll do well in the your exams. Hmmm. So we pat the heads of the turtles. And walked in to the temple, where it looked like the traditional Chinese courts. And we took bimbo photos with fans and umbrellas. Cute!

Chicco Mondo! Nice cafe near the Vincom mall. Cil played the piano again and Yoga bought nice drink. And we ate French Fries. 2 servings of French Fries.
After that Kung Fu Panda! Kablooey! Then after the funny movie, we went shopping! And tried nice clothes. Phoebe and Van bought t-shirts. Tina bought a nice pair of shoes. Mae Yue resisted temptation and didn't buy the nice yellow cardigan! Haha.

Dinner was fantastic ribs! Long story for dinner. We walked to this branch but apparently it wasn't the branch where out 50% coupon was valid. And we had already sat down. So we just ordered a lime juice and then left. Walked to the other branch, Alfresco. And then! When we were there the Jumbo Ribs were not served for that day!!! So our coupon thingy was of no use anyway. In the end we ordered two Junior Ribs and Caesar Salad. It's good!!!! oh then Linh came for a while.
Then we went to shop for DVDs. The dvds are like even cheaper than Indo, and it looks better.. and they have lots of music and concert and classical music dvds. So Cil and Yoga bought lots lots of DVDs.

Day 3
Woke at up at 6am!!!!! Had nice breakfast of pho at Van's house and then we went to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum where we saw the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh and saw the house on stilts. Security was tight!

Caves!!!!!!!!!! We all sat in small boats and went through all the caves. Tina, Van, Yoga, Cil on a boat and Mae Yue, Phoebe, Sally, Phoebe's day and brother on another boat. The view of the mountains were very nice and a change from the busy and noisy streets of Hanoi. The caves were very interesting! The last cave we went to was really small, dark, scary! Awesomeness! though. We had to like practically almost bend our head down just to fit in through the cave... the top of the cave was like really really close to our heads and knees and body. Scary but thrilling experience! In between the caves we stopped at some place to climb up to a temple which was a 100 years old.

Just had home-cooked dinner by Phoebe's Mom and now we're all in Phoebe's room. Tomorrow Van will be cooking brunch for us before we set off to Bangkok! So exciting!!!

I'm afraid the m1 cheque might have got returned, coz they returned the all of old boarders mail some time ago.. coz sometimes i don't sort all the mail.. and the pr thing, have you heard anything from them at all? hm I think i'm going to fill up the SOLAR thing first lar.. still dunno whether i'll be in KE.. but will be moving to NUS in 30/31 July i guess (that's if i have a place haha)

was just searching about how to get to pattaya from the airport. here are the options.

1. taxi. minimum fare around 1200B/cab. means one person 400B. takes arond 1.5-2 hrs, and can depart anytime.
2. Yellow bus from airport bus terminal. 106 B. problem is departure time is 5pm or 7pm. I seriously doubt we can get out of the airport in less than 1 hr, then still have to take bus to the aiport bus terminal.
3. Bus directly from airport. 150B. departure time at 6pm. they will send us directly to hotel. and the best part is that we can book in advance through email.

if there's no violent objection I think i'll book 3. we'll arrive in pattaya quite late though.

things we MUST do when at trip

1. BUY FAKE BIRKENSTOCKS in chatuchak market..my aunt just got back and bought 5 pairs! two for herself, one each for my mom, my sis and me.. so i have 2 pairs now..can always have more..apparently only 199baht each.. HAHA..which is like RM20 which is like.. less than 10 sing.. haha.. AND my aunt got the address..she says the market is really cool but huge...one day also cannot walk finish.. so saturday morning there please?

2. in Pattaya.. i SO DON'T CARE.. we are all PLEATING OUR HAIR!!! with the small beads one.. u know? so too bad the two fat guys just gotta wait for us while we do our hair.. so exciting..haha.. gotta find my swimming suit..which reminds me.. haha.. if not will bring bikini!! haha.. but yucks.. so fat.. haha..

3. I WANT ELEPHANT!! very fun! the last time i went to phuket really fun! but smellyla.. ahahahhha...

4. er.. van or phoebe's house never mindla... haha.. phoebe and van decide and tell us.. HAHAHA..

omg omg i'm so excited.. oh btw i'm back in singapore.. there's nothing much to do so I end up reading pattaya & bangkok tourism websites... haha.. anyway..

Yoga booked the Pattaya hotel, it's Sabai Lodge (right opposite sabai inn, but looks nicer.. haha..). It's US$168 in total, so everyone will have to pay US$28 (Yoga correct me if i'm wrong, or if you want to pay for the entire thing we dont mind.. hehe..)

hmm below is just the list of some things that we can do/see in pattaya:
1. the Nong Nooch tropical garden. It's a HUGE garden (at least from the map looks really huge) with lots of plants, and we can catch Thai cultural performances and Elephant performances there. It's around 15 minutes (or maybe slightly longer) away from Pattaya. 2. Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Apparently other than the Ripley's museum, there is a haunted house thing, 4D moving theatre, and an infinity maze (this looks really interesting). Can just pay to the one that you want to go to. 3. Alangkarn
Large theatre showing Thai cultural show. The show looks really good. We can have buffet dinner there as well (looks expensive) But I think there's no time to go for this one if we want to go for the transvertite show. http://www.alangkarnthailand.com/main.htm

4. Million Years Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm
Another park, this one has a zoo and LOTS of crocodile. You can take picture with tiger or see a crocodile show. (ok I dunno if anyone is interested, but I'm not that into crocodile, haha). ok other the four mentioned above there are some other things (which I find not v interesting):
- Mini Siam (replica of Thai monuments, historical buildings, etc. Since we're going to see the real thing in Bangkok find this a bit pointless)
- Elephant village. Yoga says he doesnt want to see & ride elephant. haha.
- Tiger zoo.
- Underwater world (like SeaWorld I guess)
- Bottle Art Museum. Replica of world famous places in bottles.

For some reason I'm now a bit paranoid about the transport in thailand. Apparently the bus to Pattaya from Bangkok airport (the cheapest option) only runs every 2 hour. ahhh will find more info about the bus.. Can take taxi but it'll cost like 4 times more than the bus...

just to let you know what's happening to our hotel bookings:

1. Pattaya (9-11 july)
I've made reservations to the sabai inn, just need to pay (the deadline is monday, i asked the person to extend). Yoga says he's going to pay tonight (if not we can kill him lol). Total price is around S$ 280, so one person will have to pay around $46.6.

2. Bangkok (11-13 july)
New Joe is full, so I guess we're going for Train Inn (according to Ome the location is better anyway). So I called the hotel up and made reservation through phone. Confirmed again with the person through email, but they dont require any deposit (this is a a bit worrying, I guess will call them again before we leave for Hanoi). Oh prices will be 1000baht/night, 3 ppl in a room. So each person pay 666.6baht.

new Joe:
700 Baht, triple. aircon, hot water, private bathroom.

train inn:
900 baht for first class (private bathroom, hot water, aircon, tv)
550 baht for second class (share bathroom, aircon, tv)
450 baht for third class (share bathroom, aircon, tv)
I think first and second is double, and third class is single (I'll call them up to ask)

the train inn will be a lot more expensive, esp if you want the private shower (coz phoebe does)

The triple room will be 2 girls and 1 guy in a room.

let me know if there is anything you strictly need in the room, eg the shower, you want double room, hot water, etc. If there isnt anything I'll just decide after I call up the train inn.

ok. The tour thing is not bad.. hmm..

I personally don't want the tour though, haha. Coz erm when I first thought of a trip, it was supposed to be "backpacking" across a few places haha.. and I want the experience of planning my own trip and see what happens when we get there, whether we'll get lost etc. (haha ok this sounds crazy but yeah). and I think tours does not allow to fully experience the culture sometimes.. (like without taking the public transport, eating the street food etc.)
and I'm just wondering, this tour will have other people right? I mean it might be a bit strange if it is us + Vietnamese families. and will the tour guide speak in vietnamese? (haha no offence to the Vietnamese here, just a concern that I have)

then Van maybe you can check whether we can just stay in Bangkok (dun take the flight back to Hanoi) and whether they can reduce the price if we do so. oh and the available departure dates as well.

but yes I agree that the tour will make everything so much easier and from the look of it, we do have some time to wander around by ourselves.

As a comparison , this is what I am thinking of doing if we dont take the tour

1. Take the afternoon Air Asia flight to Bangkok, reach bangkok at ard 4-5 pm, take the bus to pattaya (approximately 2 hrs), then after dinner can walk around randomly at the walking street thing..
2. Morning go and do the water activities.. afternoon... (hmm will find smth to do in pattaya, haha), then night watch the transvertite show..
3. Morning leave for bangkok, afternoon can go to one of the temples/museums on the east side, and shop/go to the night market afterwards
4. Morning till afternoon look and the grand palace, national museums, the jade temple etc (it's all in one area), then evening can go watch some cultural performances if you want to, or go shopping again, or walk around somewhere.. haha..
5. morning: Chatuchak market!! haha.. then fly back home..

since the hotel i'm thinking about (for bangkok) is in the west, mode of transport to the east will be the boat (yes!) and we can take mrt/skytrain around in the east side (it's only available in this side). hmm guess will have to take taxi at night.

the option above saves on air ticket (US$30) but will have to pay more for acommodation coz spending 2 nights in pattaya (assuming we're going for a better hotel)

another option will be

i just checked out a few vietnam-thailand tours and the prices are actually not bad and i think we get to see a lot of things, plus we don't know how to speak thai so yeah

got this 5day4nite tour, 269 US if we fly air asia, 319 US if we fly vietnam air

(and im like translating from vietnamese to english so maybe some of the names aren't correct haha)

day1: bus picking us up at the meeting place and bringing us to the airport, fly to bangkok. got thai tour guide over there picking us up and bringing us to The Twin Tower hotel (4star) then dinner and rest.

day2: breakfast in hotel. then visit the royal golden palace and the jade temple or something. and the golden temple with the 5.5ton buddha statue. after lunch we visit the royal jewelry center. then we set off to pattaya. on the way we visit the biggest crocodile farm in the world, more than 60000 of them scary creatures, then we go to our hotel Grand Sole (3star). after that we eat dinner, and go for the Tiffany's transvestite show <3 hoho

day3: breakfast in hotel. then we take the "highspeed" boat to the reef island. then we're free to swim or do all the underwater sports and stuff. then we lunch, and then visit the cultural village of the Noong Nuch tribe, watch performances, Thai wrestling, and ELEPHANT performances! then dinner, and we're free to do whatever we want (and here i'm thinking lets go to the Walking Street with all the funny kinky bars!)

day4: breakfast in hotel. head back to bangkok. visit Safari World. apparently a car or smth will bring us sightseeing in there. we lunch in Safari world, then in the afternoon we see dolphin performances, james bond performances (???)... then we visit the biggest snake farm in thailand... then we check in our hotel The Twin Tower (4star)

day5: breakfast in hotel, free for shopping til we go to the airport and fly back to vietnam! :D

so?? sounds good huh, i mean if we go by ourselves we'd probably be eating and shopping all day hahaha :P

Oh well, now that maeyue is going NUS for sure, now it is my turn to be in dilemma...arghhhhhh, HEELLPPPP..my parents are encouraging me to go auckland, NZ instead..cos according to them, the uni life is more relaxed there (which is their definition of happier life), the country is growing more stable economically, i can work during weekdays and weekends, working life after uni is less stressful, and of course, i'll be nearer to my brother..blah, thousands of reasons..but i really want to go NUS leh =(((( actually not cos of the education, but more of cos i've got my frens there, i have more freedom, more challenging uni life, and i've adapted well to singapore lifestyle.. and switching to a place with slower pace of life seems quite boring, hahaha..soo HELP!!!i dont know how to convince my parents, hahaha...

Anyway, i am still struggling to live a normal life right now..Everytime when there is even a smallest space left for thoughts in my mind, it will start pondering of someone..Thanks to it, i woke up at 5 am unconsciously just to wait for a one word reply from someone who had her birthday few days ago..Thanks to it, i broke the front light of my car =p
Hahaha, been trying thousands of ways to find something to do..And now, my best distraction is to read CHINESE story book!!!!!!yeah, cos even reading the words requires such great concentration already, so i am happily reading pinnochio now..hahaha, and once a week, i go my cousin's house and just play winning eleven the whole day and night, it really works to stop my mind from thinking, hahahaha...oh well, hopefully when Euro comes, i'll be able to live a normal life again..or else, the next saviour will be the VN Bangkok trip already..hahaha..

hi. um. the planning of the trip on my part has temporarily stopped due to my inability to decide where to go for uni. haha. seriously i got so sick of thinking about it. I shd stop thinking and plan for the trip! haha.

so yeah btw coz I got the MOE teaching award and SMU scholarship, so I need to decide where to go by this weekend. should I go NUS do science or SMU accountancy/biz?
I think I'll enjoy doing science more and NUS will be so fun (the halls, friends if you all go there).
But can't help thinking that I like the way SMU teach better than NUS (based on H3/AP experience), and my parents keep on telling me that biz/accountancy combi is very flexible, you can do anything in the future, blablabla. and they give more money. HAHA.

and on top of them I have this feeling that I should go home to do medicine instead. But the chances of me getting to the top schools are quite low, I think. And the application outcome will only be known on early August, so unis here would have already started at that time. So I dunno if it is worth it to go home and just go to some random med school. And this may sound strange, but I'm scared I won't enjoy my time in uni as much as I could have done here. hmmmm.. a very long hm. haha.

can we fix a date soon? coz apparently the air ticket price gets higher nearer to the departure date. and yes Mae Yue I think it'll be cheaper for me to go to KL first. But I think I'll just go there for transit (meet you at the airport or smth). I want to spend more of my holiday at home, feeling guilty that I dun stay at home at all during this super long hols. haha.

The date: I would prefer 1 July, but Phoebe says she can't make it.. So another suggestion will be second week (6/7 July till 16/17 July). Mae Yue can go?

As I mentioned earlier I think we shd stay budget in Bangkok, and I would really like to stay around Khao San Rd (the backpacker area). From there it seems easy to get around and book city tours and we might meet interesting ppl. (like other tourists).

And Pattaya we'll go for a quite ok hotel (with swimming pool etc)?

Hi... finally blogger allows me to post pics.. yups above is the Ngee Ann Kongsi Performing Arts Theatre.. (Lt 5 renovated, haha.) looks nice from outside.. and they have nice padded chairs.. but not sure whether the quality of the sound and everything has improved..

haha... 4 pretty girls. Sunday met up for dinner at Cafe Cartel.. Dinner was niceee, thanks to Mae Yue's mom! let's see if I can remb what everyone eats.. hmm phoebe: baked macaroni, sheila: pan-fried macaroni (do i spell that correctly?), mae yue: pork rib, me: chicken steak. plus salad, brownies and waffles for everyone! yummm....

the trip and other things

halo... what's everyone doing nowadays?

I'm still doing research/random things in school.. dun really have much to do these days... haha...
aniwae.. Phoebe and I went shopping on thursday.. and I think I spent around $100 on 2 tops, shoes, random accesories, xinyi's brithday present, and food... hmmm.. need to spend less so can save money for the trip.

ok. the trip.

1. Now tentative time will be early July. trip will be 11 days : 4 days VN, 3 days Laos and 4 days Thailand

2. Route.
After reading some travel guide, I realise that it will be much easier to cross to Thailand from Vientiane (coz it's really2 near). So the suggestion is to go to Luang Prabang from Vietnam (Van/Phoebe can check if this is possible?), then take a bus down to Vientiane from there. From Vientiane will cross the border to some place in Thailand (forget the name, haha.) where we can take train to Bangkok. Train leaves in the evening and arrive in bangkok in the morning.
er which means i dun think we can go Chiang Mai

So now the suggested (by me) route is:
Hanoi- luang Prabang - Vientiane - Bangkok - Pattaya
yups voice out if you have any other suggestion.

3. Accomodation
I think accomnodation in Bangkok & Pattaya should be quite easy to get.. there are many2 guesthouses/hotels that can be booked online...
for Bangkok there is one hotel which I think looks quite decent:

but the thing is this place only have 9 rooms.. and only 2 double room with aircon I think..
oh and this place offers city tour as well..
price for the double room is ard $25/night

I was thinking we can stay in a cheap and decent place in Bangkok (since we won't stay in hotel much anyway, I mean it's a waste to pay extra for all the hotel facilities), then can go for a nicer hotel in Pattaya.

nicer hotels (meaning with nice room, big swimming pools etc.) in pattaya would cost from around $60..

4. itinerary
3days 2 night bangkok, leave for pattaya in the morning of 3rd day?
hm i think we are v rushed (as in want to go so many places with so little time)
but anyway...
I think 1.5 day in pattaya shd be enough, if we just want to go to the beach & do the water acitivities (I want to go parasailing!) and watch the cabaret show at night.

for bangkok..
since we practically only have 1 full day, and hopefully another (almost) full day if the train from laos arrive in the morning
We can spend one day to visit the temples/palace/historical places
and the second day for shopping?
oh or can do the shopping at night.. some market opens only at night.. haha..

will compile a few iteneraries for us to choose from.

at the mean time... do your researchand give some opinions! unless you dun mind going to all the places that I want to go... haha..

oh btw it's college day tmr. hm. finally I'll get to watch college day. never actually knew what it's about (other than the performance part).

bleah..anyway.. i'm like eating nachos now..just had dinner at 9 plus.. that's when i got back from uni.. had lecture from 8-10, then pbl until 12.. then some group project thing, then netball, then running club (it's called Infinity Milers!- where i ran lke 6 freaking rounds..my stamina is like gone.. so slow i run today) and then futsal! haha.. oh wells.. tmr 8 o'clock again!!! bleah..at least thursday's a holiday! haha.. shall go sleep after my hair is dry.. now learning the lungs.. so many things! seriously, what we learnt in secondary is waaaay superficial! haha.. and hemoglobin! but very interesting.... and seniors have very funny pnemonics to help us remember stuff.. like the 12 cranial (head) nerves.. I went for the primary school class reunion today. Have not seen some of them for almost 10 years! It was FUN! Looking at our class pictures taken 10 years ago and laughing at our own funny baby faces. We went for karaoke later and now I cannot talk anymore :D It was really fun.
So, I wonder how it will be like 10 years later? Can we still meet and talk? Everyone probably will have family and kids at that time and will be super busy. Besides, we probably will live in different countries... As we move on, we will have new friends, new relationship... 10 years later, will we still remember each other? ( Today, I could not recognize some of my old friends...)
Haizzz, time flies, and time is cruel. It can erase beauty, friendship and love...
10 years later...
Where will we be? What will we be doing? Will this blog still exist?

THE TRIP

since we still can't confirm dates and stuff I think we'll just try to find out as much as possible first abt the destinations, cost, transport, etc.
We (yoga cil van me) had a meeting (haha) last night and this is what we talked about.

Destination
Vietnam and Bangkok, but with stop over at Laos.
Suggested route: Hanoi-Vientiane-Luang Prabang (Laos)-Chiang Mai-Bangkok+Pattaya

Transport
We'll make our own way to Vietnam.. or actually I was thinking those who want to can stop at KL first. Coz it might be cheaper to fly Air Asia to Hanoi from KL, rather than from Indo/Singapore.

We're thinking of taking busses from Hanoi to subsequent cities. Then fly back from Bangkok.

Activities
Vietnam: up to Van/Sally/Linh haha.
Laos: Nature? as in look at the surroundings etc
Bangkok: shopping
Pattaya: watch the show, take pictures and go to the beach.

Length/time
around 10 days (or a bit more). Thinking of going in late June or early July.

Action plan
Van + Cil: Find out about how to get to Laos fr VN, and where to go/what to do there, accomodation, cost, how long should we stay there, etc.
Tina + Yoga: Find out about how to get to Chiang Mai fr Laos, then to Bangkok and Pattaya. and everything else mentioned above.

update the blog if you find stuff.. so that we don't research on the same thing..
and the rest if you are interested in going can also help to research.

This weekend is gonna be fun for me :D
Friday night: go to friend's birthday party.
Saturday night: go to watch soccer (Chelsea vs MU, it can't be missed) at some cafe.
Sunday: primary school class reunion.
This is the GOOD LIFE! The only problem is that I am running out of money, and I really do not want to ask for money from my parents :( Should I go bet some money on some soccer match? Or should I go gambling? I am quite confident about my gambling and betting skills, but there are a few problems...
1. soccer betting is illegal in Vietnam, so I have to ask my friend to help me since he has connection, my friend probably has to go ask some guy to bet the score for me. In the end, even if I win, I only get 60% of that win :( Besides, I need at least 500 000 VND ,which equals to my entire budget now, to bet
2. gambling is a good idea, but the stake is really high, so I may end up loosing all the money. Let's say I have a really good hand, and some mofo friend of mine raises damn high to like 500 000 VND, it will be a very tough situation for me to decide whether I should call or fold, my budget is small, so, yeah...
3. I can save money to do sth better later on, something more stable and profitable (at least I think so), but like that have to wait for half a month sia, damn long

THE TRIP

I think Cil wants to go backpack to Laos and Cambodia (that's my original idea as well), but I think that'll take quite a long time (at least 2 weeks) and I realise I won't probably be able to travel for that long as well..
So I think going VN and Bangkok is good..
how long do you think we want/can stay in VN? Then go Bangkok after that.. coz from what I gather plane ticket from Hanoi-Bangkok is cheaper than Bangkok-Hanoi..

So probably Van can try to find out how much does the plane ticket to Bangkok cost?
The estimated cost for a day in Bangkok is around S$25 (inclusive on accomodation, but this will be guesthouse not hotels).. So it really depends on how much you want to spend..

If you want to go to other places in Thailand I heard it's quite easy to go from Bangkok itself..

I think early June is good for me (as long as I've gotten all e uni stuff settled.. or if not I guess mid June). But Mae Yue can probably only go during the holiday is it? (did you write in to NUS in the end?) so yeah.. I think we can plan around mid June first.. Is that ok with everyone?

So can we confirm who's going? and if you are going please post here the following:
1. Preferred travelling date + length
2. Places to go (just stay in Bangkok or other cities? the Vietnam one I think depends on Van. haha.)
3. Travel interest (museums/nature/shopping/ just randomly go around the city)
4. Type of travel (budget eg guesthouses, take bus if going to other cities or comfortable eg hotel, take domestic flights)
5. Maximum budget (excluding cost of flight from home to Vietnam/Bangkok and the return flight)

Example:
1. preferably within 9-22 June (2nd & 3rd week). Length preferably 10 days, not more than 14.
2. Vietnam: Hanoi (definitely, haha.) Halong Bay, or any other rural areas around Hanoi that is nice to see..

3. Randomly go around the city and other places around it, visit some museums/temples (not so much), and probably 1 shopping day in thailand. haha.

lalala hey people!!! :D:D:D people never blog!!! after all only me and maeyue so active!! haha...

i'm taking french classes and yoga classes now... but i always fall asleep during the "relax" part of the yoga class, when youre supposed to lie down and close your eyes and relax... @_@ isn't that what u do when you wanna fall asleep?! hehe...

but anyway... YOGA seems to be quite eager about the trip... so yeah he was saying he would prefer going to VN and Bangkok... haha i might be going to Bali with a friend myself, maybe can work that out somehow... but i think no one minds VN and Bangkok yeah? XD haha... maybe we go like around june-ish? i would prefer around beginning of june actually... :D

oh this is a bit random but Meisan's coming to VN at the end of May! XD So funnnnn!!! hehehe!!! can't wait to have you all here too <3

okay first TRIP.. that totally depends IF i get NUS..if I don't get then I don't think I can go..because IMU has class then la.. haih.. and I'm kinda getting stressed out because NO NEWS from NUS and everybody got already.. and means if I don't get NUS means I have to START STUDYING.. (which I haven't because.. yeah..because.! still holiday mood) because my exam is like soon here in IMU! arghh!!! so can only plan IF i get NUS.. haih.. :((((.. stress

anyway,, IF i get NUS.. go trip.. a few hundred sing max! :) we can save in accommodation I guess.. can squeeze in my house..but then have to sleep in the living room already the guys.. HAHA.. too bad.. I really wanna go to Bali la.. can can??

So how is everybody? I know PHoebe's working hours a loong.. haha.. ANyway, I just came back from futsal with Andre and Rachel and a few of their other friends from Singapore.. Super tired now. See how I"m not studying. and yesterday I went to watch "Fool's Gold" and the weekend before I watched "Definitely, Maybe"..and bought the DVD for Kite Runner (finally!!) and waiting for my family to finish reading the book then read together.

TOMORROW i have my FINAL driving class - after not having driven for the past 2-3 weeks and guess what..my driving exam is THIS WEDNESDAY!! haha..hoping I don't fail..because my learner's license expires on Friday.. so if i don't pass this wednesday then I need to renew and like set another test date which takes like almost forever because MANY MANY people take the test at this time of the year.. BAH..

ok ok..enough of my ranting..feels good just to type it out.. and at least I know that you guys sympathize with me.. HAHA.... and yeah miss you guys too.. really reallyhope i get nus medic...SOOOO slim.. so many ppl from nj itself.. haih..

HELLO! XD yes people if you come to Hanoi you get free accommodation and free food if you eat at my house HAHA and my mom's cooking rocks i tell you =D and shopping is pretty cheap. and have reeeeeally nice little cafes we can go to and talk crap whole night long! lol! and erm movie tix is like 5 bucks haha.

Halo.. what's everyone doing nowadays? Just had maths class dinner with Mr Neo last night.. only ard 8 ppl came.. all girls.. and he's the only guy.. hahaha.. so yups.. ate at Cafe Cartel.. had lots of food.. haha.. and Phoebe n Xinyi bought a pink pig for him..

by the way.. I just suddenly had this crazy idea (ok la has been thinking about it for quite a while.. haha), anyone interested in travelling/backpacking around South East Asia? probably smth like starting out in Vietnam, then go down to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia.. for about 2weeks or so.. around june/july.. haha.. cost wise whould be quite cheap.. but it could be quite troublesome to plan I think.. and I dunno whether my parents will actually let me go.. hahaha..

okay here are some of the pictures..got loads la...some too embarrassing.. so yeah.. haha
there's me in a kimono..everyone is supposed to be dressed from some country.. there was a kenyan, a sumo wrestler, samurai warrior, brazilian, chinese, spanish, etc etc..roman!

then there was a day we did candy man.. with red ribbons in our hair..we danced to the christina aguilera's candyman i mean. haha.. got video..but i dunno which one of my friends have it..

then also there's a day where i was britney spears...that was total embarrassment.. anyway.. i've got nice group members who are friendly and cheerful!:) so it was quite fun la.. lessons started even during orientation..cuz the orientation was like evening one cuz the seniors had lessons...orientation ended last week but my group still meets up..today we played badminton!!!

okay a bit blur but yeah.. these are the girls in my groups..not all i think. we were in the stupid red bows and white top and shorts with striped socks halfway to calf.. and we were dancing candyman.. copied some moves from the mtv.. haha..

Enrichment Week

Halo everyone!!! YAY WE ARE SO PRETTY!!! :) :)

haha... So how's life? those at home back to slacking? haha.. have you all applied for NUS/NTU/SMU? I've just applied to NUS yesterday... haha...

This week is enrichment week in NJ.. But it's only for J1s.. J2s dont have enrichment week... haha... So yeah.. I have to run some of the activities for the teachers.. and settle payment matters (from students and pay to vendors) for them also... hahaha..
This whole thing is soooo messy.. Like there is one activity that is going to happen tomorrow, but they only realise that they don't have enough money to pay the vendor (coz not enough ppl sign up).. So it's either I have to collect $2.35 extra from everyone (82 ppl) tmr (HOW am I going to do this?? haha) or it might get cancelled.. the teachers havent made up their mind yet... hahaha...

Had a talk on Marine Conservation by the ppl from Underwater World today.. it's quite informative actually, about shark conservation.. but obviously the students find it boring.. felt quite bad for the speaker who were trying to be engaging and unthusiastic and stuff. haha..

oh I went shopping with Phoebe last week.. and she kept on telling me to buy stuff.. so I ended up buying a top and a big tote bag under her influence.. hehe... (pheebz if I run out of $ is your fault, hehe). And we had dinner in the hawker centre above bkt timah market today...
